Ok, So I know this is probably a simple thing but I need conformation. FCPX imports my MXF files no problem if I connect my camera. And it isn't a problem if I put my CF Card into a reader and FCPX automaticaly loads those clips no problem. But if I copy my CF cards in the field to a portable hard drive via my laptop which does not have FCPX on it, which I do a lot. Then when I get back to the studio I can't get those files into FCPX without re-wrapping them or converting them to a .mov file or something. Is there a special way to copy those files to a hard drive.
I am using a mac, 10.7.4 and FCPX 10.0.4
Thanks for your help. Im sure it is something simple.

One of the easiest ways to preserve a card image is to create an image on your mac from the card instead of copying the files. Use DisK Utility (Applications->Disk Utility - or drop it in to your dock for convenience) to read the card and make a disk image (compressed - otherwise it also stores all the unused blocks full size too). When you want to import the files simply mount the disc image as if you were mounting the card.
