Canon version of Tamron 17-50 and the GH1

I saw a similar thread in regards to the Nikon version of this lens and the GH1 and was wondering if folks on here had success adapting the Canon version to the GH1. It looks like the Fotodiox adapter will do the trick but it's always good to hear from people with hands on experience. Thanks in advance!

Yes you can use the Fotodiox adapter with your EOS lens on the GH1, but you loose Aperture control because in the Eos lenses the aperture is electronically controlled, just two the electronics adapters for Eos lens on Micro Four Thirds has been announced, the Birger Engineering and one from RedRock Micro, another one from Kipon with a external aperture ring.

I think the Birger Canon to M4/3 adapter will cost over $900. And I don't know if a GH1/2 would have enough power to run it.
I have seen the tests with the AF100, very impressive. Unless you already have a ton of Canon lenses, the Nikon to M4/3 route
is the best way to go.

To be honest, I'm getting the GH1 as a cheap balcony camera for when I do weddings so the Birger might be overkill for my needs. I already own the Tamron 17-50 for the Canon and I'm looking to fit that onto the GH1 so I have a wide enough angle (14 would be better) to cut to when adjusting the Canons or when I need to start a new file. I've heard the Tamron 17-50 won't work with the Kippon filter but (according to one source) the Fotodiox adapter will work. Just wanted to see if anyone on here has tried that combo. Thanks!

Just got the GH1 and the Fotodiox EF to m 4/3 adapter and the Tamron works just fine with it. Obviously no aperture control but for my needs, works out well.
