Canon 400 F2.8L

This is my "company owner" portrait. I used a super telephoto lens in order to achieve the really bold and blown up backdrop I was after. The narrow FOV and large aperture on such a long lens offers something you can't achieve with any other type of lens. Of course it's not a practical lens for most portriat work because of the working distance as well as the weight.

Great shot. Very unique indeed... what camera? 5D? and do you own that hella expensive lens??

I think this image could have been better if I had used a wide angle near the donkey, getting the trees and the hills in the background. You can see the shepherd sitting with his back to us to the right of the middle trees. I'm not too fond of dogs running at me so I don't usually get too close.

Shot with a 24-105 on a 7d: f/11, ISO 160.

Here's what I've been able to do with my T2i:

Shot using my Nikon 50mm, set at f/2.8 for that bokeh:

First day I got it, still taken with the 18-55mm "kit lens":

This one is actually taken from a video shot with the T2i and my Nikon 50mm f/1.8. Color graded and added a bit of grain (for an horror short) and that 1.85:1 matte:

Shot at 5pm on a bright day, using my Vivitar 70-150mm f/3.8:

Nice shots! Especially like the last two. Not a fan of the second, but that's my opinion. Pity about the first one, because it's a nice pic, but it's extremely blown out. Should've used a GND, but oh well. Still a nice shot.

Thanks! I opted for feathering/burning in that first photo with my hat rather than and ND Grad since I didn't want to shoot directly into the sun and have a an extra layer of glass for light to bounce around in. Unfortunately that area around the sun was a good 2 or 3 stops brighter than the rest of the sky so it was too hard to selectively burn in that area. Would have been a good candidate for an HDR for that reason.

After a few years of working my ass off I f finally took a long break. So we went to Brasil.
This was on our way back to Belem leaving Fortaleza, City lights. I was shocked at how beautifull it is.

Thought I would share a twin baby photo session that I had recently. Very big and diffused/soft lighting with 52" diffusion panel. No harsh shadows or very directional light. No kickers, hair light, etc. Only one uplight for the scroll pattern background. I tried to keep things simple…like the way babies are...except they pee on backdrops....oyyy!

5D II, Pocket Wizard FlexTT5s with AC3 controller on manual mode. Canon 50 1.8 and 100 2.8
