Thanks for the kind compliments guys.

Most of the portraits were lit with an ARRI 650W and a Mole 1K fresnel w/ a 20" x 24" sheet of Light Grid Cloth attached to a makeshift frame, except for the one vertical one is lit w/ a fluorescent shoplight and the ARRI w/ Rosco Azure Blue gel and some others have Rosco yellow #10. I use an 80C filter to balance them closer to the films daylight balance.

DivotDan, I'm glad someone else is still rolling with analog photography as well, it's a rewarding process.

and Jordan, Boscovs is still open. Barely lol.

Pictures too large and I forgot how to resize (does that work on the forum? HTML tags?)

I love coming into this thread and seeing everyone's photos ... some fantastic work in here. eg, I love that pano ... I just did one recently, but with my P&S, so posted in a new P&S Pano thread in the still's section.

Monday I received my new Canon 50mm f/1.8, my first prime lens, and my first lens faster than f/4.5 ... I still have a lot to learn, and I know lenses won't necessarily improve my photos ... but it can't hurt either, right? :)

Here's a couple I snapped in natural, unplanned, low-light, of my niece running about as I checked out the new fancy lens

Am I the only DVXUser member who bought a 7d primarily for stills? This was shot with the venerable Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS. What a huge step up from non-IS.

Been an odd week

Been an odd week

Well,

A few weeks ago I got the itch to shoot stills again. I hadn't bought a camera since 1996 when I bought a Nikon F4s.

So I bought a Nikon F65 off a co-worker along with some slow lenses. And in prep for buying some nice older glass.

Today, I went out to do some video with my photography buddy, as we had a model who needed head shots. We'd worked with her before and she's lovely to work with.

He hands me his 7D and tell me to shoot them. I had only held a 7D once in my life, and never one with batteries in it! He had the 100-400 L glass on it, I looked at the examples she brought along, and replicated them for her. The results are below.

These have not been through photoshop yet. They are straight out of the camera. Gawd was I rusty after over 12 years out of the game!

[Yes, I forgot to white balance. I didn't even know how!]

Guess I'll throw in some of my select photography work as of late. Two headshots and then two randoms. Both the head shots are 7d, and the house shot is a 5d mk1.

Enjoy!

Thank you. No HDR. 7D handheld, RAW. I exposed to the right splitting the difference between good exposure on the car and holding on to the sky around the setting sun. The bit of reflector look comes from a reverse vignette and the tone mapping. I probably would have done two layers so as to keep from lightening up the sky, but this was just for fun.

I like suburban environments more than most do. Might be because I was born in a big city and outside of the USA, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I'll throw some of my recent stills in the mix. All shot on the 7d. I'm just getting into stills and I love it.
