definitely a better camera than the t2i, but also definitely not worth an upgrade, and that's not even taking into acount the fact that t2i has ML but t3i doesn't (yet)
the HD crop zoom, by the way, extends your DoF, so with 3x digital zoom your 200mm f/2.8 becomes a 600mm with f/2.8 in terms of light sensitivity but f/8.4 in terms of DoF
What is the sharpness, moire, and 'look' like with the HD crop? Is it really 1080p with selectable framerates?
If Canon can only add one or two sort-of useful features with each new version of a camera, I think I'll wait about 5 more releases before upgrading.
How'd you get in on the test group?
The only thing worth testing is the manual audio levels (alittle different than the 60d) and the big feature - crop video mode.
Same camera as 4 years ago when the last 1D was updated (2007). At the very least, Canon can tweak the processor a bit and optimize the video. Something I'm sure they're very capable of. But they're too busy milking profits to care.
If so, How did you know two monthes in advance that they were going to release it. This was announced like on the 7th?? And why bother writing a half assed post about it being the same with out even trying all the new features. If this is true, Canon really dropped the ball when deciding who was going to beta test, or even line test this cam. I will wait for blooms opinion, at least his means something.
