Hi.

So all my lenses and previous camera bodies have been Nikon. But the 50fps and fully manual controls of the Canon T3i pushed me to purchase one to have a play with.

Here is a video I made from one of my photo shoots.

For the T3i footage: I used Nikon primes via a cheap (ebay) lens adapter on the Canon T3i body, mainly shooting with a Nikkor 85mm F2.0. All T3i footage was shot at 720p, 50fps - and later conformed to 25fps in cinema tools. Nikon D3100 footage was shot at 1080p, 25fps. All footage was converted to Apple Pro Res LT, edited in FCP 7.

It might be the lens adapter with nikon lenses on canon body, but I have found that often I really regret shooting in 720p just for the 50fps on the Canon, when I edit footage next to the Nikon D3100 1080p footage. Don't think it's just the increase in resolution, but the actual quality/clarity of the Nikon video footage that looks superior. As said, this could just be due to using nikon lenses on a canon body though. Maybe if I use canon lenses on the T3i it'll produce footage that better compares to the d3100. As far as usability goes, the manual controls on the T3i is a win when shots require exact shutter/iso control ability.
