First time shooting with the sachtler ace, gotta say I love it! Let me know what you think of this video, I put some time into the sound design as well so critique in that area would be splendid... WATCH WITH HEADPHONES

Dude what is this song

EDIT: nevermind, just checked the vimeo. Fly vid dude, I'm diggin it... I don't have the go-nads to take my cam in the snow haha. I'm limited to my gopros

Looked very cool, not sure if the intermittent sound effects worked though... I'm assuming those weren't part of the song?

@homestar_kevin:

I used the Tokina 11-16, Pentax SMC 50mm (old school), and canon 85mm f/1.8

I usually use a polarizer or a pretty dark ND filter, shutter speed at 120ish, f-stop at around 9-12 depending on sunlight, and ISO at 160

@sonofaresiii:

What do you mean by sound effects? Apart from the song, I used audio from the skiing itself (the sliding on rails/snow, landings, etc.)

yeah, those didn't quite fit for me. for one, they were off in a few places, or at least sounded off, and they also came in and out. just felt a little distracting and unnecessary in any case

I normally switch these skiing videos off after 20 seconds, but I happened to enjoy this one, which proves the value of a good sound track.

I personally thought the effects were a good idea, and very much worked for me, but I slightly agree they could have been improved, pretty much as sonofaresiii said. There were some inconsistencies in their tone and volume. I liked the low frequency emphasis. Did you lower the pitch while keeping the duration the same? Sometimes they were absent, which I felt was not good. I would have dubbed in some artificially by borrowing from another clip if I didn't have the audio for some reason.

I like the video -- especially the exposure on the snow.

The music, however, sucked ass -- and I don't mean hot stripper ass; rather, homeless, hairy, droopy ass...sorry for the visual.

It seems like all these no-talent homies ever do is take old songs and rap along to the main riffs (In this case, the song is "Hey Joe" by Hendrix)....oh wow..look at me..I have talent because I can drop some lyrical diarrhea on a 30 year old track...wow...

The sound effects were out of place and distracting..To sum it up in present-day language:

"Yo....dem sound effects is whack, and I'ma hafta pop a cap in dat rappin' n****z ass fo sho, but the vid is tight...peace"

Mike,

Thanks for the info,

Your picture looks amazing.

It's really tricky exposing for that, and you nailed it.

Great, Great job again

The "talentless-homie" rappers you are referring to are the Wu-Tang clan, and many rappers would their they're almost as influential as Big and Pac. The lyrics are from a different song and the track you heard was remixed by a third party DJ. I can understand one's disrespect for mashups/remixes, but not too many people hate on Wu Tang...

Regarding the question about the stabilizer, I did use a glidecam HD2000
