What I don´t understand: The price stays the same no matter which C you got. So 600€ for a C500, no brainer. 600€ for a C100, not so sure.

did u by any chance find the info? if so plz post the link!

well may be for c100 its not necessary.... well c100 is almost same price as good photo camera..., but for c300 or c500 - its good idea. any issue with the cam will coast much more then 600E! plus while its under warranty - at lest here in EU u can clean the cam for Free.... i already cleaned it once and payed nothing, shipping also was free. so if u clean it lets say twice a year - it probably already payed off!

ok i finally BOUGHT 2 extra years of warranty!!! So for any one who is interested, here is the info:

1. when u buy cam in Europe u get 1 year warranty
2. after u register your cam at http://cpn.canon-europe.com you get 1 extra year of warranty for free!
3. while your warranty is still active - you are able to buy 2 extra years of warranty for around 600 euros + vat! here is info about it:
http://cpn.canon-europe.com/content/services/cps_pro_services.do?locale=en

if u want to save a few euros, like i did, i recommend to order it from Sweden as their price is the lowest rcc.service@canon.se !! 5500:- Swedish crowns excluding tax, i just payed and its 593.56 euros, so its 46.44 euros cheaper then in Germany for example.

i sent my cam for cleaning several months ago - and its all was free, as my cam is still under the warranty, i also asked them to test the sensor... shipping both ways was also free! so in my opinion its worth it. its like 300euro a year, and if lets say i ll send my cam for cleaning just ones a year -probably its will cover the price if the extra warranty, and if there will be any need for service - most definably it will coast more then 300e.

Is the warranty transferable? Not sure with the pace of tech that I will still be shooting the same camera 4 years from now.

I'm buying an FS7 this Nov. and have debated on extra warranties etc. I'm not sure what Sony offers (or what standard warranty is) if anything but am going to see what my local shop offers also.

1. as far as i know , yes its transferable, but the canon asking for the invoice from original buyer, i read about it somewhere but where i dont remember, its not a direct answer from canon, so anyone who is interested will have to double check with canon, i ll send an email to canon eu my self as well to check it out.

2. my original 2y warranty is over in the end of november 2014, and i dont see my self selling it now, so i want to be sure i am covered in case of something....

buying or not its a question for every owner, only owner of the cam can decided if he needs it or not. All i did here: i provided the info, that there is an extra warranty that could be ordered if needed, - it was a long way for me the find the information , in fact from my 1st email to canon to actual order of the warraty, it tooks exactly 1 month and several international calls!!! even after i was provided with the info, it tooks for canon service 2 week to find out how to do it in the right way. Again no one at canon eu knew how to do it!!!

so if some one dont find the info i provided is usefull, its up to them, but i think many C user may find it interesting....

1 more thing about extra warranties... u dont have to buy it right away, u can wait till original warranty is almost expires and get it if u decide to keep the product for a little longer...

Thanks. Makes sense to protect your investment. Its like production insurance sure people get by without it but its the cost of doing business and being professional.

again to any who is interested .... official replay from Canon RCC:

Is your question regarding if you want to sell the product and if the warranty will be available for the new owner?

The warranty and the extended warranty is following the product, if the product is sold the warranty will work for the new owner as well. There is one important thing, the new owner needs to have the original receipt and the extended warranty receipt as proof of warranty.

So its great news i think!
