Canon IS lenses ( Image Stabilization ) For Video

I'm wondering if the IS part of the Canon lenses has any effect on reducing jitters while shooting video.

Huge. Take a look around at some other threads and you'll quickly notice that most members when shooting handheld, use an IS (or VC if Tamron) lens.

Yes it does. But you did use a key word - "reduces"... once I mounted my camera on a shoulder rig setup, that jittery look was completely eliminated.

Because there's no dampening in the body, basically even your pulse could be picked up as jitter. Add in any form of stabilization, even a flash bracket bent backwards and braced against your body will make that jitter virtually nonexistant. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than IS, works with any lens, and doesnt get picked up by cam-mounted mics (IS motors click a lot)

Yeah I just didn't know if the IS functionality actually worked in Video mode -- thanks!
