Canon HF 10 vs Canon HFS 10

I have a Canon HF 10 which I really enjoy using - awesome image in a small package. However its low light performance and lack of being able to manually set gain leaves a bit to be desired. I also have a Brevis35 which I use with the camera, and with some of the slower 35mm lenses I get a lot of vignetting. I can use the same 35mm lenses with a DVX100b and I don't get any vignetting, this is due to the sensor size, right?

The HFS 10 seems to have some nice new manual features and a bigger image sensor, but is it worth upgrading to?

Thanks

For the price of the hf s10, you might be better off spending a lil more to get the canon 7d its about $ 1,899.95 with the lens and with out the lens is about $1,699.95. The hf s10 has poor low light performance but awsome quality and good manual features. It also depends on what your needs are, if its for home videos you might wana stick to what you already have, but if you want to spend $1200 for just a little better quality and a few more manual controls thats up to you. The canon 7d is just an amazing camera, and for about a $900 more than the hf s10 you can get it, this is just my opinion. I have the hf s10, check out my videos.

I was worried that this might be the case.

The low light performance of the 7d would blow the HF S10 completely away, wouldn't it?

Does the HF s10 have better low light performance than the HF 10?

If I did get the HF S10 I would sell my HF 10 and probably actually get the HF s100, so it wouldn't be a full $1200.

I haven't used the HF10, but the chip is bigger in the HFS10, so I'd imagine the low light would bit a bit better. Plus you can manually control the gain (amongst other things), which I like.

I have the HFs100, which is the same camera, without the onboard memory, and you should be able to find it for less than $1,000. That's a pretty big difference from the 7D. The 7D is definitely better in low-light, and gives you shallow dof and interchangeable lenses.

The HFs100 delivers a sharper image to my eye, and has a few useful things like zebras and controllable audio, not to mention superb autofocus. It is a truly amazing camera for it's price. I have it and the GH1. The GH1 has a magic, softer, cine-like look to it, but the HFs100 is definitely a powerhouse in it's price ranger and has the crisper image. I suppose it depends on what you want out of your price range...

The HF10 / HFS100 are definitely sharper then 7D and give you real resolution without aliasing. I had an HF10 for a year and it's an impressive little camera for the price. And gain control with the HFS makes it even better.
