Ceico7? Rotate the red dot PAST the red dot on the adapter, as though it were already in and you were locking it in place, then twist it back to the dot and the lens should drop in. Secure it by rotating.

I had a bit of trouble as well, but I eventually lined it up right. Just do as revsta mentioned by lining up the red dots...

I just bought a Canon FD adapter, along with a 50 mm f1.8 lens and a 28 mm 2.8 lens from two different ebay sellers. As far as I can tell, adjusting the aperture ring has no effect on the exposure for either lens. For example, the 50 mm lens goes from f22 to f1.8. I can start recording video and crank the ring down from f22 all the way to f1.8. When I did this, I was expecting to see the image dim and darken, but the video appeared to stay at exactly the same brightness level.

I've configured the GH1 to 'SHOOT W/O LENS'. What am I missing? Am I attaching the lenses incorrectly in such a way that they're being prevented from adjusting their apertures? I can't believe that I've managed to buy two damaged lenses from different ebay sellers. Is it possible that the adapter is somehow at fault?

Or am I just making some silly beginner mistake?

On the one that I got (adapter) you have to turn the adapter to open, then put the lens on the adapter. If you don't then the aperture is locked and even though you turn it nothing happens.

$5?! Where did you find an awesome deal like that? The prices I keep seeing on ebay/Craigslist hover around $20-$40 for the 50mm I bought.

Damn, $5!!!

I got an f1.4 for 50 dollars off of keh.com. Not an amazing deal, but the lens is really clean and works well. I would definitely order from them again!

I just picked up a Canon FD 50mm 1.4 lens. Is there a way to stop down the aperture to check that it is working properly without mounting on an adapter or camera? Right now nothing happens when I adjust the aperture in either direction.

Just got my adapter in and i can't get it to stop down with that attached either. Looks like it's wide open at f1.4.

Finally got it to work. Had to stop it down all the way with the adapter on and flick the aperture lever a couple times to break it loose from being stuck wide open since it had oil on the aperture blades. I guess oil is not as much an issue when manually controlling the aperture and mainly keeping it as wide open as possible.

Anyone else shooting with oily aperture blades on their manual lenses?

which Ebay seller has the best tried, and tested adapter? Whats the best bet as far as ebay adapters? Seems to be adapter seller's popping up left and right!

I am a bit confused here ...if it were a FD lens, can you just turn the aperture ring ON the lens to change aperture? If the aperture is stuck, and there is oil on the blade, this lens is defective, and I would return it if possible, unless the glass is good and you got it dirt cheap.
