Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D: is good for video?

Hi, I would like to make video by a phptocamera. I'm thinking about Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D.
In your opinion is it a good photocamera for video? I'm not an expert and I'm afraid to make an error.
What is your suggestion?

I'm thinking about Sony HX300 too. In your opinion which is more dedicated to make video?
Which is the one that gives the best quality of video image?
Thanks

Go with the Canon. Better for both video and stills. The ONLY thing the Sony offers over the Canon is 1080p at 60fps. And that is definitely NOT worth losing all the other options the Canon has.

Are you sure? I need info only about video.
1) With Canon can I film a subject with fast movement like football? Is it 30fps?
2) Do you have Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D? Sony HX300 has a 20MP over 18MP of Canon.
3) I think Sony has a better image quality. Is it so?
4) With AE Canon works fine? How is autofocus with AE?
5) Sony has Image stabilization for no shaking video.
Thanks

If you are OK with having to manually focus your video at all times, then a Canon DSLR will be OK. Note that the 650D is the one with the auto focus video lenses, but even then they arent that great.
You can film fast moving sports at 30fps, just use a fast shutter speed to "stop" the action at each frame and reduce motion blur.
The 600D can do 60 fps at 720p.
Canon DSLRs are a little soft compared to some other 1080p cameras, but unless you are very serious about making videos/films, its not a big deal.

My 60D works great, its just a pain to manually focus all the time for "home video" type scenarios.

1) Yes.
2) I have the Canon. The Sony has higher megapixels, but the Canon sensor is bigger, by a lot, which means it's more sensitive in low light. That extra low light performance is going to help way more than 2 more megapixels.
3) That depends on shooting conditions and the lens you're using. But for stills the Canon will blow the sony out of the water due to shooting RAW images.
4) Autoexposure is fine. Not sure about autofocus since I focus manually.
5) The Canon kit lens (18-55mm) has image stabilization.

I don't think using auto focus for following fast movement like football in video will work. It will be searching between the players and the background. The 600d does however have the 3x crop function which is a benefit for an action event like that, but manually focused.

1) Yes. It shoots 720p60 - the format may HD Sports broadcasts are delivered in.
2) The mp count really makes little difference to the video quality - it has more to do with the processing. In any case, HD video is only roughly 2mp so either camera has more than enough pixels - the rest just get thrown away or bunched together (depending on the processing). Plus the bigger pixel size in the t3i means the images are overall better. Pixel count is not the single defining number by which image quality is determined - just look at the GH2 for proof - it has only 16mp, but delivers sharper video than the 22mp 5DmkIII. It all comes down to the processing.
3) If you have that opinion, I will not try to persuade you otherwise. It would not surprise me if the Sony was sharper, but my guess is the t3i is cleaner and offers more dynamic range along with better colour rendition.
4) The AE on the Canon is good at getting a properly exposed image, however the exposure changes often have a noticeable step in them.
5) Many Canon lenses, including the t3i kit lens, offer image stabilisation as well.

A last question please:
I'm viewing the Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D and gets more scores about Image quality than more expensive Canon EOS 5D Mark III. Is there an error or is it true?
Look here:

That score is for still image or for video too?
Thanks

A few points:

Firstly, you have posted links to the t3i and 7D review, not the 5dmkIII review.

Secondly, if you look above the scores, you'll see that the t3i is compared to budget DSLR's, while the 7D is compared to semi-pro DSLR's. So the scores are not on an even playing field. However, because the 7D and t3i sensors are nearly identical, and the image quality should be pretty much the same, we can see that the sensor in the t3i is at the top of its class, and also competes very well against professional quality gear as well.

I thank you for your exaustive reply. A last question please: do you think Canon EOS Rebel T3i / 600D is better for video than Sony SLT A58?

I dotn know too much about the Sony A58, but I believe that it does not allow full manual control of your video. That alone is enough to keep it out of my hands, though I hear it is a great still camera, and may have good video quality as well.
