Canon EOS *non-kipon* adapter recommendations

I currently have the Kipon just as a bridge for either the RR or Birger, but a big shoot is coming up and I need just a basic adapter that is good quality.

After comparing my canon lenses to an actual m43 lens, I realized that the Kipon is super soft, even with L series glass. Must be poor tolerances.

I just need an adapter for interviews in controlled lighting environments. Which ones have performed the best for you guys?

*And sorry if there are other posts about this. I looked but couldn't find anything that helped me. If you know of one just c&p the link.

Hi Ryan,
the Adaptimax Canon EF to Micro 4/3 is in stock and we can Fedex one out to you straight away. I won't give the sales pitch as others have already sung our praises. If you use promotional code "10percentdvx" you will receive 10% discount at checkout.
Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve,

Thanks for the reply, right after posting I saw below your offer haha.

I don't understand how the cheaper adapters make the image 'soft' as there is no glass involved.... thought it was purely connection and build quality. So is this not the case?

Because the Kipon is a piece of crap. If you don't get the distances right, inifinity will be fuzzy ...

I'm in the same situation waiting for the Birger and have found the Fotodiox adaptor to be an inexpensive but clean substitute for my EOS lenses. Personally, I won't spend hundred$ on an interim adaptor that doesn't allow iris control.

I mostly shoot interviews with the 24-70/2.8, or 24-105/4, & connect via a pair of Fotodiox adapters. So far they've performed fine.

On another note, consider supplemental lens hoods for your EOS lenses. Since the Canon hoods are optimized for a FOV twice as wide as the AF100's, they could be tighter, & provide better flare protection. I've ordered Hoya hoods that can be set for different angle of views.

I am very happy this thread is here because I just bought the AF100 with a Kipon and shoot with my Canon 24-70. At infinity it is very soft and I just thought it was my lens or me. I will need to get another adaptor I think.

I paid a lot for this thing, wish I did not know that I have used it.

Cheers

Ed

So, if I remember correctly from somewhere here, if I were to go with a Fotodiox adapter, I'd have to use a Canon DSLR to set iris? Isn't this a royal PIA?
