If your guess at the street price of 10,000 Euro is in the ballpark, that would be around $13,500 U.S. right? I wonder if it would be even cheaper in the U.S. because of no VAT...

This is exciting. Hopefully the US street price will be well below $15,000. We should probably know within about a month or January at the latest.

If it's $12K-13K, that would be crazy good.

I think it would be a safe bet that it comes in at the same exact price as the EF mount scarlet package.

You could be right... let Red name their prices... then match or lower later...

I clicked on the link... after doing so... that's not like the Brooklyn prices places in the US is it... :cheesy:

Canon I hope you're listening. If the typical relationship between Euro to US pricing holds true here, I'm definitely buying, and you're going to sell a LOT of cameras.

A beautiful thing if 8 bit(s) is shaved off the previously floated MSRP. You'll always be able to price higher when the specs/non-XF300 processing/10 bit warrant.

Yes. Anyone know offhand what the difference in past Canon products MSRP has been between US and Europe.

I think Canon has held pretty close to the listed price on video cameras in the past... but that could be the old Canon... with Canon stepping into the cinema market... it could be... just thinking out loud here... you announce your camera... Red announces the Scarlet with prices... so you sit back and then come back later and drop the price... after knowing what the other company is doing... just a thought...

But I like the idea of $13,500... when all the rumors started... I said I'd be happy with slog and 1 to 120 fps at 1080p for the same price as the F3 without Slog... 4k would have been a bonus... so really if this holds to be true... it came in pretty close to what I wanted except the frame rates...

I posted about the price of the c300 a few days ago. in france we can preorder the c300 for 12000€ without vat, so it's 14500€ with vat. in general the price in $ = the price in euros with vat. the f3 is 14000€ for example. so the c300 should be 14000$ in the US.

At the C300 European launch in Berlin, where this new pricing was announced, Canon introduced several new lenses that we didn't see at Paramount, including what looks to be an ultrawide zoom with EOS mount. And the rumor is that they will be cheaper.

And the most amazing announcement really is ...

electronic cine zooms with AF

( who cares what camera they are on, scarlet or c300)

I heard someone else saying that Canon was coming out with some cheaper primes... so like the Cp2's from Zeiss... Canon does the same with their low f stop primes and sell them for like 3k like the cp's and I think Canon will clean up on lens...

The two "future expansion" zooms were shown under glass at Paramount. I didn't hear about an AF cine zoom, though. Anyone have a link to that?

I think the killer lens Canon needs to make is an ENG style short wide to medium tele servo zoom and servo focus (some of their EFP handheld lenses already come with motors in the handgrip for remote zoom and focus). This way you could set up wireless follow focus or flip a switch and go back to manual focus.

I really don't think Canon cares what RED does. Canon competes with Sony and Panasonic. The entire RED vs. Canon is a marketing effort created by RED as far as I can see.

Just the time that Canon spent developing the C300, the specs of the C300, and the way RED's announcement was made in response to Canon's announcement, makes me think that RED is trying to get a piece of Canons sales, not vice-versa.

Perhaps, Canon has done some numbers crunching and decided they can sell more at a given price, but a company like Canon has a ton of approvals and departments to go through, so I think they are proceeding as planned, not reacting in any significant way.
