Canon EOS-1D C Price Announced $11999 Pre-Order Texas Media Systems

That's actually a pretty impressive price given everything it does - I did not expect that price! Hmm... I may have to consider this one...

Anyone coming from a DSLR world this is a logical step for 10K. Already have all the rigging and a familiar set up turbo charged.

Wish it was available a month earlier. Nevertheless, I will get this one. At this point of time, there was a toss up between 1D C and the C300. Wish the 1D C had the broadcast ready 1080p codec rather than the AVCHD and XLR ports. The 50fps will be of help in my wildlife slow motion work. I can't visualise where Canon can put XLR ports. The most important point for the 1D C is that in certain situations you can just film without attracting notice.

Wondering if you want to record clean 1080p, which recorder will work. Especially 1080p at 50/60p.

You probably know your stuff, but check out the 1d-X 1080p video quality before buying, and see if that is worth buying a 1d-C. It is said that they have "near identical" 1080p IQ.

Having trouble finding any good 1080p footage online. And so far no vimeos with download.
and why not?...

Hopefully there will be more soon.

Phillip Bloom has done some docs with the 1DX recently; should be able to find them on his site.

I have been avoiding his site. Oh well. I'll head over there...

...Ok, I am back. Good to see it in use on the "tracker and the Banker" video. Much better real world uses than shots of sunsets at piers (although those are nice too, just not my typical subject matter). And there's a download. thumbs up. And thanks.

Glad it worked out. Why were you avoiding the site in the first place?

Another video with 1DX (narrative parts) here:

If you do not need 1920/1080 50/60p, S35 crop, continuos recording, C-Log, almost no moire or antializing etc..
etc THEN BUY 1 D-X

I love the idea of the 1dc but the lack of 25p is a worry and from what I have read Canon seem intent on keeping 25p off the 1dc because "cinema is 24fps" wtf??

That would definitely limit my work with this camera in 4k, with projects in Asia.

Bloom's review of the 1DX is pretty good too. He said basically that it is the best DSLR for video - he was a bit surprised a bit, not expecting much over the 5DIII.
