C500: Canon EOS-1D C BTS footage by Untitiled Film Works $11999 at Texas Media Systems

Do you happen to know if the Super35 mode for this camera is anything like the C100/C300?

That is, with the C100/C300, they do a form of colour aware pixel binning in a 2x2 block turning the full 3840x2160 sensor pixel resolution into a 1920x1080 image resolution, no line skipping needed. Obviously, that produces a superior image, and I am wondering if the 1DC does the same thing for either Super35 or FullHD modes, or if it simply crops, uses line skipping, or simply interpolates down.

I got this reply from my Canon Tech Rep:

"The super 35 crop mode crops the sensorto a 1920 X 1080 resolution.

So yes, it merely crops the sensor, but no, it does not make use of line skipping."

The super 35 mode is only in HD and not in 4K. The good thing is that you can immediately get two different perspectives one wider using the full frame of the sensor and the other in the super 35 crop mode (cropped area without line skipping). 4K utilises APS-H size area of the sensor.
