Canon ENG B4 Lens on GH1

Yeah, that'd be easier to do if I didn't love putting FD teleconverters on my B4 lens so much to get supertelephoto stuff like this...
Now I have to borrow a monkey wrench to get it back on there... oh how I miss shooting at 1,200mm...

So, if you use a 2x FD teleconverter, can you use a B4 lens without a built in teleconverter and still cover the full 4/3 frame without vignetting? That would open up the number of B4 lenses that we could use with this setup.

How much for b4 to nikon?

Rabot, it is $200 plus whatever amount you like to pay for shipping.

Today is it. If anyone is wanting one, please PM me today. So far Abe, gsr400, and stonebat are in for B4 to Nikon adapter. We need two more to get it going.

I am having two more B4 to Nikon adapters manufactured than the actual preorders. If you are interested in purchasing one of these two, please pm me.

I might be interested in a B4 to Nikon adapter (that's what you've got right, as the Canon FD's are spoken for?), but can't seem to PM, probably because I just registered. I'm thinking about a lens like a Canon J15X9.5B4 which I think will work. If it doesn't have the extender built-in I could use a separate Nikon 2x teleconverter to accomplish the same thing, right? Or, better yet on a new GH2 use the teleconverting video crop feature (2.6x) to remove the vignetting. I understand that normally a 2x teleconverter would basically double the fnumber. If the video crop feature of the GH2 is only using the center of the sensor for 1080, it's capturing less light, and is essentially the same thing, right? So if a f1.8 lens will become f3.6 with a 2x teleconverter, will it act like f4.6 with a 2.6x crop? Basically it would become a ~50-740mm f4.6 lens. I guess that's still usable and a heck of a lot better than the 14-140 kit lens would be in a similar setup (f5.8 x2.6 = f15). If it's not linear like that, can someone help correct my math if I'm wrong?

Also, does anybody have any comments on which of the Nikon to m43 lens mount adapters work well in this setup? I'm thinking about the RJ Camera one on ebay, I think it's also the one RainbowImaging sells, but may spring for the Metabones one as I've heard it's better quality and I don't need the G lens aperture control in this application.

I could be wrong, but when you 1:1 crop feature of GH2, you will be able to use B4 lens without 2x extender and you will not have to lose a couple stops of light. So it will be f1.8 all the way.

kc5vcx, at the moment I am taking a pre-order for the last B4 to Nikon mount adapter coming in December. Let me know if you are interested.

+1. ETC 2.6x is far superior than 2x extender. The cropped section does not lose any light. It's still f/1.8. Canon B4 lens without 2x extender is smaller and cheaper.

Gentlemen, what are you guys waiting for?

Get B4 to Nikon adapters and start bidding Canon B4 lens.

i ordered 3 weeks ago a b4 to u4/3 adapter from a place in italy that makes adapters and optical components (so they say...)
i have 2 b4 lenses, an Angenieux t 14x8.5 b1 esm with doubler
and a Fujinon A16x9.5 b12u

mechanically i don't have any problmes, apart from weight of lens , BUT i have huge back focus problems... focus ring is nearly useless, i can only manage to focus anything further away than 3 feet if i go at max telefoto range.. on both lenses i have tried with their own back focus adjustment, but it changes very little.. it is still way off...
trouble is, that i am italian and this company is italian, but i have had better customer service with unknown chinese firms from the other side of the globe... this company doesn't know what "customer care" means... phone lines are only open from 10 am to 1 pm .... i had to wait 1 weeke before i got an email answer for my order that was not shipping... i have tried to send then an email... but i know allready i won't hear from them any time soon... is there anything else i can do ? i've used these lenses many times on eng cameras and never had and problems like this before....
pity, cos the lens , when i do manage to focus, are quite sharp, they have a nice feel for run n gun shooting that i do, and with double i have no vignette and i can live with 1 stop light loss....

Arrggg! I seem to have fried another servo. I bought another Fujinon B3 mount lens because I fried the servo on the first lens I bought and I really want to have a working servo zoom. The new lens has the 6 pin connector in stead of the 12 pin on the first lens. Everything I've read says that the first 6 pins are the same. And everything I've read says that pin 3 is Ground and pin 6 is +12V.
So I carefully seperated out the six wires and I swear that I am counting the pins correctly. I wired the brown wire to ground and the blue wire to +12V. I switch on the 12V power supply and the Iris closes, the zoom doesn't seem to work then I hear the sickening pop of a capacitor and smell smoke. I shut off the 12v power supply.
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? and has anybody been successful at this?

managed to talk to supplier... they forgot to send me a small allen tool and instructions on how to extend the adapter for proper back focus.... anyway, i had the correct tool and so managed to get correct distance and now i can focus properly...
wow.. how i missed these proper video lenses... with a big focus ring and smooth iris..
any ideas on how to connect the adapter or lens to a tripod ?... there's no way i'm going to let the camera support all the weight...

for anybody interested, and if you have the patience to wait and deal with very poor customer service.... ( they told me today they are relocating offices so they are even slower than usual...) here's the link where i got mine...

Aloha-
I was able to power my 8 pin fujinon. I had to do some trace and opened up the servo- i found blue was a common on a few buttons and guessed that white was hot. so in the case of the 8 pin servo on my fujinon blue was ground and white was 12+.

No, it does not. It is not really possible to add any support feature on B4 to Nikon adapter. It is pretty thin. You may want to look for Nikon to M43 adapter that has tripod mount.

Has anyone tested the coverage with a 1.4x extender ? I'm asking because its just 1 stop slower. 2/3-inch is equivalent to 16mm and the GH1 has a 22mm image circle.
A 1.4x for a 16mm gives 22.4mm.
Cheers!
