canon ef lens on gh1 question

i bought a 24 mm and sigma 50mm macro ef lenses .I got an adapter for these lenses to fit my GH1.My questions are:

how do I control the settings since it has no aperture ring etc.If i set it on S and 60 shutter.Am I assuming that the aperture is on wide open all the time?

What is the general control with these lenses ? With my FD lenses I can fully control my settings.

You cannot control aperture on EF lenses if mounted on another camera than a Canon EOS.

seriously, are we assuming that when the speed is at 60 or what ever speed, the aperture is always at its maximum automatically?

No feature of EF lens can work with GH1.
However, you can control aparture if you have any EOS Cam.

thats exactly my question all along,under what feature am i getting the sharp pictures i am getting now....what is allowing my gh1 get these pictures. since there are no aperures then i assume the shutter is in play if set to P or S?
