Canon DSLRs to start offering headphone jacks?

Well well well.
I'm quite familiar with the fact that we can already do this with Magic Lantern, but it looks like Canon is listening to what kinds of features users want- the 5D mIII (being announced supposedly over the next few days) has been spotted as sporting a headphone jack, which we assume is for audio monitoring!

I have no idea what this means for the t4i, but after rumors that the new rebel camera will come with silent auto-focus lenses (ideal for AF-during video?), it sounds like Canon is officially interested in making their new bodies more video-friendly!

this is all just a mess. you have the higher end alexa, red one/epic. the middle range scarlet and c300. then all manner of dslrs. and as we've seen, the bottom of this list isnt horrifically night and day, like "lose the client for reasons other than brand sexiness" worse then the top. and every damned one of them makes windmill blades curve.

until someone adds global shutter, im going to quit chasing this tail (or tale) and just buy more lights ; )

This is good news, and if the T4i comes in at the <$1500 price point, silent AF, a headphone jack and a DIGIC 5 that reduces moire will make the Canons much more useful video cams.

But please, Canon - lift the 12 minute recording limit and I'll consider coming back, even if you hang on to that clunky old mirror.

Still have my EF lens.... ;-)

Unless you want to pay a bucket load more tax when buying it, they wont get rid of the record limit. The reason it has 29.59mins remaining, regardless of what size card you have in, is because of licensing rules that state if an device can film more than 30mins, then its a video camera and is subject to higher tax rates.
