Canon Develops World's Largest CMOS Sensor. 100x More Light Sensitive

[dust'n the callipygous]

Last week they announced that super high resolution sensor. Now they've announced a new enormous one. They say it's best for shooting nocturnal wildlife and stars, since it requires one one-hundredth the amount of light as any of their current sensors. Oh, it's also 40 times larger! 60fps at .3lux? Sounds good to me.

The future looks BRIGHT! :cheesy:

[steev'sHVX]

lighting will be absolete haha

[Postmaster]

Now we are talking, shallow DOF of less than 0.1mm.

Hooray!

[Noel Evans]

Yes, very interesting. What exactly are Canon up to with these sensors? One week super high res, the next super size.

Time to get out the old 8 x 10 Sinar camera.

Supposedly you can check it out @ the Canon expo (Javits Center) in NYC. I'm going to try to go later today or tomorrow.

[Paul Nordin]

This is all interesting I guess. But in addition to the worlds largest sensor, can they deliver an update to the 5D that doesn't moire? that's my priority

[Chris Santucci]

Yeah, I think processing power should be more of a priority at this point.
