I'm not sure I see the 'move the ball forward' aspect of this camera. It seems to have the features and shape of cameras that have existed on the market for 2-3 years like the F55. Don't get me wrong it will produce a nice image and is a much better form to rig for production than the previous C series but from what I have read it seems much of a 'me too' than a leader in any way.

The price on that Codex recorder will be breathtaking, I wrote about them for the Varicam.

Things can change, especially since it's not out yet, but I think FD Times said the CODEX for the 700 would be $6,000. One of my reps sent out info this morning with prices(MSRP and street) and there was nothing for the CODEX. They worked up a basic package quote for customer info and you're looking at just over $40K(street) for a basic 700 package.

It looks like the control module is attached via Allen key screws, and covers up the memory card slots...so anytime you need to change memory cards and have the control module attached, you have to get an allen wrench out and screw around to gain access?

The OU-700 Remote Operation Unit for the C700 appears to flip up to allow access to the memory card slots based upon the photos that i'm seeing.

It definitely flips ups and won't obstruct you getting to the media slots

Every camera promised with high DR and a global shutter has either been delayed or never made...must be tough to achieve.

Most Texan looking camera shot I have ever seen. Wish I was there to have some of that brisket!

Just think Sony launched the F55 with high DR and global shutter 4 years ago. What a workhorse.

The C700 looks like a great camera option to have and a complete system. Can't wait till they start getting out in the wild and making some pretty pictures.

[NorBro]

Is there a difference between electronic global shutter and global shutter. Why do some cameras just say global shutter?
