The Canon C500 was used with a Codex Digital Recorder to film this fake commercial that aired this past weekend:

Hmm, not a ton of DR in that spot. Either way cool to see the camera getting out there on "legit" productions.

Alex Brouno is the DP on these....he switched over to the C300 at the beginning of this year and has been lauding the attributes of the C300 ever since. Canon had him doing some presentations at NAB this year.....so it's easy to see how he got a C500 & Codex unit for this shoot.

I mean, doesn't appear there was any reason to use a C500 instead of the C300. Surely they only needed 1080p. There may have been some slight slow-mo when the actors were spinning, but that could've been accomplished by shooting 30p.
