C300: Canon C500 price drop!

On top of the brand new sensor tech, the C300 mk3 is also more ergonomic (=has a side handle + canon have implemented improvements based on user feedback, such has a better top handle, increased ND, button illumination, more) and more self sufficient (=internal 4K, 410 mbps internal codec, rarely a need for an external recorder) and it has that bleeding edge autofocus. The C500 needs a rig/tripod/support to get going. The hand-hold-ability of the C300 markII would be the deciding factor for me.

It also just feels weird to blow 10 grand on a 4 year old camera in this market. That said, coupled with the Odyssey, the C500 is still a lot of camera for the money. Beware that this price drop is paving the way for a new model, so prices will fall further still - and even if that takes a while, the used resale value will decline at a steady clip. Then again, that's basically true for any camera except the Alexa.
