Here's a link to the Canon announcement and website for the C500 EF and C500 PL cameras.
Cinema EOS C500/C500 PL digital cinematography cameras will not only support 4K-resolution video but also outputs this as a 10-bit uncompressed RAW data stream with no de-Bayering. The cameras offer the additional versatility of being able to output quad full-HD (3840 x 2160), 2K (2048 x 1080), full HD (1920 x 1080), and other imaging options. All of these digital image source formats fully conform to established SMPTE production standards. All 4K formats can be selected to operate from one to 60 frames per second. The cameras employ a 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 signal format during 2K output, which can be selected to operate from one to 60 frames-per-second (fps) as well. If switched to a 10-bit YCrCb 4:2:2 mode, the camera can operate up to 120 fps.

List Price Approx $30,000 per the press release

Confirms that Canon would´t play games. The new cams come end of 2012. So the C300 is what there is and they did not hurt its value by undermining it like Sony undermines its F3 with the FS700.

These are 2 great cameras for high-quality productions.

Guess no more hand grip!
As someone that has a new C300 i kind of feel cheated: they couldn't give us 10 Bit and at least 60@1080, i demand a firmware update immediately :-)

Guy, fat rig. Do you really feel the need for an external VF?
I try to built my rig so the EVF is right in front of my eyes. Hope it works.

Back to the thread: C500 looks like a beast. I just won´t have the projects for it. The C300 does all I need.
The 4K DSLR is interesting positioned. It is just what some people wanted, although I don´t understand why they still don´t put a flip-out-LCD on it, since it is now clearly a film cam and not a stills cam.

Anyway...we can hope for a firmware upgrade. I don´t need RAW, don´t need 10-bit. But 720p@120fps and 1080@60fps would be nice :D

Totally agree, paying all that extra for 4K and 4:4:4 raw is fair enough as it puts it squarely in the high end production window, but I do feel frustrated that I can't get 1080/50p out of my C300. I thought I'd be fine with 720/50 as 1280x720 is fine for my needs as that moment but the C300 suffers more from moire and aliasing more at 720p, it's not just resolution that's being discarded.

The C300 shines at 1080p so it would just be lovely to be able to shoot at 50 / 60 frames. My gut however tells me that it's unlikely we'll ever see it added via firmware, I think the C300 is a proof of concept camera that's unfortunately limited by XF300 electronics.

is this about right,

2K output 12bit RGB 4:4:4

4k 4096 x 2160 10-bit uncompressed RAW up to 60fps
quad hd 3840 x 2160 10-bit uncompressed RAW up to 60fps
2k 2048 x 1920 10-bit uncompressed RAW up to 60fps
hd 1920 x 1080 10-bit uncompressed RAW up to 60fps

2k 2048 x 1920 10 bit 4:2:2 up to 120fps
hd 1920 x 1080 10 bit 4:2:2 up to 120fps

50mbps proxy

i was wondering if we could ask convergent design to make their next gemini with 2.5" SSD and video assist modes, but it seems they are about to roll out a gemini raw. would the 2.5" SSD request be too late. and would it be fully compatible with this camera specs?
