I've got the C200 back today for a few hours:

That is exactly how I would have used the C200B (except with my own monitor) if I had bought it.

Terry, do you include free shipping for C200 purchases all over US? can you also confirm that the buttons do indeed light up in the dark or do you have to enable it via the menu? btw i dunno if this has been mentioned or not, but is the C200 HDR compatible?

i guess i wasn't very clear, i believe high dynamic range happens on a sensor level. The image at the 'capture stage' will determine if it can be delivered for HDR, via a HDR color grade of the original RAW material... since the C200 can deliver RAW and the higher end C700, which i believe is also HDR capable, can deliver raw via codex...so when viewed on canon's fancy $29k HDR monitor, you can see deeper blacks and truer richer color...

the market obv is lacking affordable HDR capable monitors now, and to some certain extend only high end cameras can produce true HDR images. I wanted to know if the C200's raw signal, when played back on a HDR monitor will yield a High dynamic range image quality if that makes any sense? I could be totally wrong on my explanation or understanding of HDR, so if anyone here has any knowledge feel free to correct me and share it on the forum :)

PS: i believe netflix already has HDR content, the mass market do not currently have the means to view HDR content via their current TV sets, but it will come soon enough, i rather take HDR anyday than 8k,12k, 16k, just sayin'...

In its loosest meaning, HDR video content can be said of anything with a greater DR than Rec. 709's 6 stops and 8bit.

Most modern cameras at the level of the C100 or greater aims to provide 12 stops and up. But to be compliant to 'standards' going forward, for HDR content, I think you are supposed to deliver a 10bit file (or greater) within a certain color space like Rec. 2020.

Since the C200 captures raw data at 10-12bit with 13-15 stops of DR, you can say that it's HDR compliment up to 4k DCI 60fps.

There are more than one HDR standard and it's still work in progress. But this is how I think about it.

The Canon C200 buttons do not light up like the C300 Mark II.

Yes, Texas Media Systems ships for free to the lower 48.
