Hello everyone,

I am looking into buying a canon c200 baseplate...nothing too fancy...basic baseplate for attaching 15mm rods, follow focus, matte box and as counterweight a battery vlock plate. Do you have any good suggestions for a best price performance baseplate? The companies that cross my mind are wooden camera, small rig, shape, zacuto?? has anyone had any experiences with these brands and their solutions for the c200...thanks in advance for any input

Wooden Camera Unified Baseplate for C300 is my favorite if I'm not doing shoulder mount. If shoulder mount, I'll use the Zacuto VCT Pro.

Wooden Camera is what I always see owners of Arri cameras using. I like Smallrig because their prices actually make sense...

The problem with the C200 is it sits like 10mm below standard matte box height, so if you get a regular baseplate it may sit too low for matte boxes that aren't heigh adjustable. We had to get the Shape C200 riser plate for our Smallrig Arri Baseplate.

Zacuto VCT Pro = if you have budget
SmallRig = If you are cheap

Either work, Zacuto is made in the USA and better quality, SmallRig is functional but Chinese made and not as high quality.

I went with the Wooden Camera Unified Baseplate when they had a really good sale going (got it before I even got my camera).

I'm really liking it! Love the modularity of their system. I have a bottom plate on my shoulder pad so I can just pop it off my ARRI dovetail which is on my tripod head, and slide the shoulder pad on for quick transitions.

Build quality is great, would definitly recommend it.

Thanks everyone for the input....

has anyone tried or tested this solution from shape company:

I need just a simple baseplate to attach to the tripod's plate and have the option to utilize rods and vlock battery plate as counterweight...
Yes, that is their lesser expensive 15mm LWS......without the Arri rosettes to rig a grip relocator or grips, the VCT connection on the bottom, and the shoulder pad.
