C100: Canon C100 Auto Focus demo video with Joe Simon

I currently have Nikon glass I know you can get a Nikon to Canon converter but with a converter would the software update still work with non Canon glass?

Also with NAB around the corner and the current finance deals with the C100 is that an indication that there might be another Canon model on the horizon like a C200 to bridge the gap between the C100 & C300?

This AF upgrade would be so much more useable if it allowed the focus point to be moveable as in the 70d. Not looking for touch screen focus implementation, just a simple means of moving the active AF area with the control wheel for instance. Anybody know if this is a hardware limitation for the c100 or just Canon being Canon?

I'd be interested if you could movie the focus point. Center only would be close to useless for me in almost all situations.

Had a play around with this today at BVE, it's crazy and definitely something i'll be getting done.

Was sceptical at first tbh but seeing it in action it's so fast and love that you can move the one shot button if needed

My camera is getting upgraded Monday. So I´m considering buying the 17-55 f2.8 canon lens. Anyone tried it with the new autofocus? How is autofocus performance on this combo?

Regards,
Benjamin

I'd love that and would buy 2 of them if that model had a better evf and 720p 50/60 but with these upgades and firmware being announced for the C100 so near NAB I doubt anything is being announced there.

CanonRumours did mention a few times that they heard of a new "Cinema Camera" being one of the new additions y Canon this year.

We will know in the next 5-6 weeks.

I'm in the same boat as you :) Heard rumours about even more affordable Cinema EOS camera - C50. But I'll hold up until NAB as well

It would make more sense that they would update the C300 (C300A, C350) than anything else. Not enough room between products. Then after that I would think that they would improve their 4K offering, C500, 1DC. But, I would'nt be waiting on that for this year.

What could they drop from the C100 and still make it 'good enough' that you'd buy it?
Well, I've been filming with DSLRs since 2010, then upgraded to FS100, had it for 1.5 years and it just didn't cut for me with awful ergonomics, weight, size, constant picture profile adjusting, horrible highlight handling. I do documentary work mostly, so C100 is a perfect fit for me - I'm a photographer as well and have a good arsenal of Canon glass. DSLR is not an option for me anymore.

Ooooh, you lucky chap!

Now, here's a tricky question:

What's your software revision number?

Can you move the green AF area around?

I ask these questions, because I heard from a Canon chap that 1.0.3 did this, plus enable the ACES colour space. He seemed very enthusiastic, but it sounded a little OTT and perhaps he had his wires crossed. ACES is, I think C500 only, and moving the green AF area would be stupendously useful but somehow it sounds too much like they're thinking about the Magnify region.

Also, have you experimented with converting the Magnify button with the Continuous AF button on/off? ;-)

I haven´t had the time to configure the shot-cuts yet I will tomorrow.

I have version 2.0.3.1.00 firmaware
I can´t move the square. I can´t see the aces colorspace (don´t know what it is?)
