canon 7D Vs 5d MkII resolution overall quality

yep the 1/3rd stops are very clean on the 7D.
The glass also has a big part to play in the equation

Not only noise,
resolution?
Dynamic range?
In the test with 5d MkII the lens was the same ( canon 50 f 1.8), same location, same light.

I don't know, it seems because of all the hype and the fantastic price point people think these things are as good as Red or something, you just pick them up and magic happens. These are great cameras for the price but they have their limitations and I would hope that anyone plunking down more than a few hundred dollars on ANYTHING would reseach the crap out of them first. That being said I don't know of ANY camera that has as good of lowlight performance as these things...what are people expecting?

I know 7d isn't RED and never could't be.
But believe me , a Canon HV 20 have more Tvl/h and the 7d have strong limit if you want finalize in HD.

Well....you must have a do-do bird for a camera. :)

But really the 7D is not a 5Dll just like a T2i is not a 7D, GH-1 (and on and on). You can't expect the same outcome at the same settings with different cameras. My experience with this camera is different than yours it seems. I also come from an HV20 which does resolve better but nowhere as nice a picture (and I'm not just talking DOF). It seems from your statement that because it does not resolve as much detail as...let's say another consumer/prosumer camcorder that one should not consider it HD (or a limited HD). But the HV20 resolves differently than...let's say an EX-1. I wouldn't say that the HV20 is now not considered HD...because it resolves less than an EX-1. The final picture from all of them is still 1920x1080 (well....HV20 is 1440x1080....but you know what I mean). Resolving power is different from cam to cam. All of these DSLRs are limited with their resolving power (less than an average consumer camera). But...they are still HD. And really...I don't think any cam in this price range resolves a TRUE 1920x1080 picture (IMO). But they are still...HD.

...hmmm...I wonder if I used the word "resolve" enough...?? lol

These DSLR's aren't for everybody, especially those with a budget. Sounds like you would be better off with a more traditional camera for your needs. Hopefully you could get back most of your money before the price falls too much further and find a good price on a non DSLR. The nice thing about these is that the lenses pretty much retain their value indefinitely.
