Phil Bloom uses a remote for the 7D to do his photo time lapse that is really cool. Does anyone know what model number the remote is?

The TC-80N3 does some stuff the other cheaper models don't really do. Only drawback is it's more expensive and the cable it comes with is rather short. But it rocks...

Haw- I'm not a Canon salesman. Look it up if you're really interested. Some other remotes are very simple shutter releases. Canon's lets you do more complex timing and control more functions on some cameras. Not exactly night and day though.

FWIW - You can do it with a laptop and the eos utility included with the camera as well.

here's one I did recently

yes i also took your advice and tried a timelapse, if you're home its fine but on the set having your laptop connected to your camera doesn't scream professional, but my main conern is if you're outdoor and don't have power then its an issue

When I was worked on a HP spot a few years back, we used laptops and 1dses to shoot hires timelapse background plates. It was a long day and night babysitting the cameras, but the results were fantastic, and it was professional enough then.

This is actually the EXACT model Phillip himself recommends if you can't afford the Canon Brand.

As far as I know, it's actually the EXACT same device, made by the same manufacturer, just doesn't say "Canon" on it. As far as all the data I can find on it, the knockoff appears to be the exact same intervalometer as the Canon branded one....
