CANON 7D or T2i.... Which is a better buy?

I am so torn between these 3 cameras. I've been planning on buying a 7D to use to shoot my music videos with, but that was until I realized how close the video quality is on a T2i. I've also heard that the 7D overheats quickly. I just really need a DSLR fast, but I dont want to spend twice as much on a 7d if t2i has basically the same qualities. Is the 7D really worth it? Any Suggestions?

Magic Lantern is a soft hack that when applied via sdhc card will give you audio level controls with on screen levels, an incredible range of ISO's, video exposure controls, custom crop marks for different aspect ratios and some other features. Models with the hack are probably the best tools for video only in the line up.
Without hack the 60D and T3i have features for video that a T2i and 7D do not include. Like articulating screens, manual audio levels, and the T3i has a nice zoom feature as well.

I've also been looking at the t3i. I really like the display capabilities. Magic Lantern isn't available on t3i's is it? Is the flip out display worth the extra dollars. Or is the T2i with Magic Lantern a better shooting tool all together than the new T3i?

I'd vote for the t2i unless you need the weather sealing and hdmi-out of the 7D

from magic lantern, I absolutely love:
* custom cropmarks
* focus peaking, focus assist (10x zoom while recording)
* spot meter, zebras, histogram, waveform, false color

i say look into the 60D. i like it way better than the t2 or t3. i like the 7d more than the 60D but not $2x more.

60D has better control set up then the T2i as well as articulating view screen and audio control.
With the 60D just turn the dial on the back to control f stops, front wheel for camera speeds.
With the T2i to change f stop you must hold a button on the back at the same time turn the wheel on the front. Easy to change the camera speed by accident and start shooting at the wrong speed if you are under pressure and don't notice.
Magic Lantern is good, but can't fix the poor control set up.

I traded my 7D for the 60D. Very happy. Magic Lantern in alpha for the 60D and I use it on my shoots.

I use the HDMI in HD from a 7D. I make narratives. HD monitoring is important to me. So are the different frame rates. Still happy with my purchase. I'll have this camera for over a decade I'm sure.

T2is, T3is, and 60Ds are all quite popular. I thought of trading down. Decided against it. I bought this camera to make films with. So far it's been a beautiful experience.

I thought about buying a second camera and looked at T2i and 60D. I even thought about another 7D. I bought a GY-HD100U. There are times when you need a proper video camera like when you're working alone.

There's no harm in buying a T2i. It's a great price point for the technology and it opens doors to you creatively. Especially if you're using it to complement an HVX.
