Swedish Model Elsa Hosk letting it loose for Accessories Designer JDauphin

I bought the 7D with the 28-135 kit lens package plus a lensbaby composer. That night before the battery is charged I get a call from a Swedish-French accessories designer who needs a couple of pictures shot of Elsa Hosk the Swedish model the following day.

I had carried this idea around for a couple of months that it would be cool to start shooting something about a Swedish model that arrives in NY for the first time. This way I could draw on my fashion experience and start working on storytelling while building a fashion reel.

I spoke to the client about this idea and she was very open to the idea of shooting it as a video instead of stills as the images was mostly for a press release on the web anyway.

The following trailer is from just one take of forty as she needed something to put on her site for a presentation the next day. The rest of the video is coming along soon.

Time to move to Sweden. Liked the whole feel of the piece. Great CC, Music was perfect, lensbaby suited the material perfectly.

I give it two thumbs up: quick question though, which font did you use for the title? Thanks.

Don't know the beginning, it is the designers logo just lifted from a pdf - the end credits are Futura Book

Thanks for all the nice feedback - even if the swedish comment could have been a bit "cleaner" - i am currently working on expanding this to have a trace of a story line and hope to post a longer version in about a week or so

Awesome video! Really loved the mood of it.

Any particular reason you picked the Lensebaby Composer over the Lensebaby Muse? I'm looking to buy one and I'm not sure what's best for video.

Cheers

Yes, nicely lit and shot. Great images and great use of the Lens Baby. If money were no option I'd own one, but it's too specific / strong an effect for wide use in narrative work. It would be great to have one for the times when it would be perfect though and I much prefer it to lens baby emulative post effects.

If you cant affrod a lens baby you can get creative with a 645 lens and a sock (seriously)

Not too much jello on her BTW - great

don't know if this is true for the other ones - the composer can be locked in place but can also be used loosely - in this movie you can see the focus moving around as the lens is wiggled around a lot of the time - but mostly I just liked the idea of being able to cause bluuuuuuuur

Yes, it is too strong of an effect - in the newly uploaded longer version of the video you can see how I started shooting the girl with a regular lens - and then it was time to check out what the lensbaby could do - and I was like WOOOAAAaaaa - and it stayed on for the rest of the shoot

It will be a thing i use for a little while and then loose interest in it - however the other day i went to a fashion show and threw it on and tested it with the 60 fps when the models walked the runway - if i get a minute i may put that together somehow and see if a real dreamy slomo thing looks cool
