Canon 7D + Firestore

How sick would it be to have a Firestore or something?

Seriously, Seriously! I'm super pumped about this figment in my mind.

These 8GB cards are great and all but remind me of P2. What if they had a Firestore or something where we could use our 7D's but go record for 80mins STRAIGHT.

DANG

That, plus these H4N's we've all got (that can roll for 6+ hours!)

WHOA WHOA

If you had a 12" HDMI cable, ran to like a Firestore or something, clipped into your hotshoe. YOU COULD GO FOR HOURS

Dang that'd be so tight... dang that'd be SO TIGHT..

hahaha. what a dream. :cheesy:

The only problem is that you're still kinda limited to the 12 minutes, since the focus box in live view only goes away when you are recording. When the camera stops after 12 minutes, the focus box reappears.

My longest single take was 5 minutes when I was working with the 5D. What are you all planning to shoot? :)

In my new place, the "plus" button on the oven is broken. My roommates and I had to run to the leasing office for an unrelated reason. While there, we reminded them the oven button was broken and therefore could not go above 350 degrees.

The lady looked at us and said, "What on earth are you cooking that needs more than 350º?!"

We were confused...why does that matter? It's broken...fix it. Also, we didn't have a good answer. Weeks later we realized that FROZEN PIZZA requires 400º!

I'm not sure what any of that has to do with cameras...I just want to make some pizza.

Bagel Bites require 375. Anything less than that is inhumane.

I think there may be some real hardware limitations going on, otherwise we would be seeing this. Overheating and whatnot.

Maybe people are taking their 7D's above 350...

Nanoflash.

No, your 7D would overheat and shut down long before you hit 80 minutes.

And P2 can easily record for 80 minutes, or 800 minutes, or 8000 minutes, whatever you want.

AVCCAM (HMC150 and HMC40) can record for 12 hours simultaneously.

What you want to do (long recordings) is already possible, but not from the 7D. Choose the right tool for the job.
