Canon 7D: Canada ?

Just curious where people in Canada are getting their camera and equipment since most of the site revolves around websites that mostly American.

I am wondering if there is any other places besides Henry and Vistek?

Not that I'm getting the camera, but it's up for pre-orders at both London Drugs and Future Shop in Canada.

Vistek

Vistek

You can pre-order at Vistek

I've never dealt with them so I don't know how good/bad they are. But their gear seems to be decently priced.

edit:
haha thats what I get for not reading your whole post, sorry.

you can get them in canada, but when i did the price conversion, my local store is selling the camera body for 2099 canadian. Buying it american for 1699 and importing is still cheaper.

I prefer going to The DV Shop in Toronto. The customer service is better there, IMO, than the other places. I know they're taking pre-orders on the 7D now, but they are a lot smaller than either Vistek or Henry's, so I'm not sure what their stock situation is going to be like. Also, their prices tend to be cheaper for what they carry.

Add to that the cheapest body+lens combo here is $2599 (this kit lens is different than the one that's included in it's US counterpart kit) and it looks like 'Buy American' is still the route to go. I just wonder what the warranty situattion will be like.

I purchased from Adorama Camera in NY - I figured it would still end up saving me a couple hundred bucks after paying taxes to import it into Canada. In Ontario, I just have to pay PST + GST (not sure if that's everywhere in Canada as well), since there are no tariffs on photo equipment.

You will also pay carrier brokerage fees.

They vary from 5-7$ for USPS/Canada Post, 15$ FedEx and 50$ UPS.

Ah yes, I suppose that'd be true if I hadn't shipped it to my brother in Tampa. I forgot to mention that part...I guess that was important haha.

Thanks for bringing that up!
