Canon 5DM2 and Shoulder "Run N Gun" Rigs

I have looked at the Redrock Micro and the Cavision and while one appears heavily overpriced the other looks short on quality. The Cinevate and Zacuto both fit in the Redrock pricing scheme and while one looks a little cumbersome with set up the other is priced $$$.

Thus, wondered if there is anyone out there that has used one of the following or has other suggestions:

IDC Run N Gun

PROAIM

Both of these are closer to my price range and for the former (IDC) I have a rig that will support the camera and it's respective mounted gear while the latter appears solid and well engineered but would love to hear from others who have purchased them and found them satisfactory (thumbs up) or "no way" (thumbs down).

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

I'd recommend the Cavision rig over everything you've mentioned. The Proaim stuff is decent quality and would more than likely require replacement of some screws, bolts, etc.

IDC uses plastic stock for some components where aluminum would be better.

This is worth looking at: http://www.handyfilmtools.com/

wow chris! that "handy" stuff looks interesting...

ive yet to find ANY shoulder rig that really makes total sense - even my much loved zacuto stuff.
and these handy guys have an interesting take...

I suggest you check out www.cpmfilmtools.com a good combination of cost and support/build quality

I have put together a video with my updated rig.

Neat rig but way above where I want to be trust me. I'd be far more conducive to a lighter weight set up like the IDC Handy or what that neat PROAIM gear . . IF . . the PROAIM stuff is quality?

I'd love to hear someone comment on the PROAIM gear???

Ya know, I keep seeing the IDC FF/hood combo and it actually looks like it might be ok.
The price seems right and allthough the construction/materials might be a little on the light side, my impression is that it might be just what I need. The FF is simple, but functional, and for a small cam like the T2i it might be a good fit.

That's why I built my rig from parts that came from various sources. It's evolved a bit since I started with it, but it's exactly right for what I want to do with it. You can use components from the various manufacturers to build a better rig that costs as much or is cheaper than the pre-made stuff.

I had a full DSLR rig and wound up using the damn neck strap. I just find it better for my style to run a minimal kit. Camera and strap works great for me. I sold it all and don't miss it.

well so far i'm leaning in the direction of the IDC if for no other reason than simple, easy to use and mount, lightweight, and not a lot of bread.

My favorite rig for DSLRs (shot a wedding using it almost exclusively on Saturday):

Available without the rails here: http://www.imagewest.tv/servlet/the...gory=Camera+Support+Equipment:Shoulder+Mounts

You get 10% off if you enter "DVX" as the code during checkout (minus the quotation marks).

Or, honestly, cheaper from our supplier here: http://bushhawk.com/

I shoot photography and video for ImageWest.tv but I also suggest new products to the owner, so if anybody is looking to increase their sales through greater distribution, let me know.
