We've heard plenty of unconfirmed rumors about a release time frame and pricing for a
future Canon 5D MKIII (If Canon ever decides to call the next 5D MKII that way).

In the even that this ever happens:

When do you think this camera will/could/might be released?

What would you guess the price will be (please specify body only or kit)?

You guys have a great week!!

It will be release on october 28, 2011 @ 3:31 PM EST. You want speculations, here it is! Oh I almost forgot the price: $3499. Cheers.

whats the point? It gets released when it's ready to. We all know how tight lipped Canon is with it's cameras. You'll know when they want you too. Lets talk when it's released.,

I heard that they are just going to put a larger sensor in the L1 but still have it Hi8.

Well, if I have to venture a guess I would say that I wish they'll release it next month (May) but the MKII was released in September (right?), so I guess we might need to wait until then (at least?). Too bad because I wish I can have it before the summer so I can do some shooting but even if they release it next month I am sure it will be back ordered until who knows...

Price... my guess would be $2999.99 for the body only. My dream kit would be a Canon 5D MKIII with a Canon ES 24-70mm f/2.8 IS.

Have a great weekend guys!!

The test cameras are apparently being sent out to key photographers according to Canon Rumors. CR also says that the MP count will not be pushed that much higher, and that Canon is opting instead for improving overall IQ and high ISO performance. 19 focus points.
CR says once the test cameras are sent out new info starts rolling in. Personally, I'm still optimistic about a Photokina announcement.(esp given this information)

Also some people say...oh these rumor sites never get anything right - but CR does a good job of explaining when something is just speculation by an individual or to take certain guesses with a grain of salt, etc. There isn't any of that in this latest post - this sounds valid.

Yeah one of my buddies is friends with alot of skate photogs and apparently one of his friends has an 5DM3, but refused to discuss it other than that its awesome.

Is he testing it for Canon? Not so sure I believe this one.

I think Rob was being sarcastic.... perhaps suggesting Canon Rumors is just full of it, and maybe they are. But in the last year or so...both CR and NR have been pretty on top of things. I did see the actual D7000, D5100, 60D and T3i on those sites first....and a lot of other valuable info.

Photokina is bi-annual on even years, so not this year, held in Cologne, Germany.

November 2011 release at $2,999US primarily because of the devaluation of the dollar.

Yeah, i agree with the price. $2,999 for the body. I'm not just going to run out and get it. They really need to show up with this cam and really
make a statement. Its video has to be significantly better then the GH2 for that price. So, whatever codec they implement better be good. Just throwing in
a 7D AF system and putting a swivel screen would be really weak. Imagery from the Digic V needs to be truly next gen.
