I’m hoping you guys can give me some advice before I pour a ton of money into a Canon 5D mkII . I’m working on a nature time lapse project, sunrises, sunsets, clouds, exc. I’m interested in seeing what more experienced time lapse filmer’s have to say regarding the difference between time lapses on Canon 5d mkII vs Sony EX1.
I’m using a Sony EX1 for the time lapses now and I’m just not too happy with the latitude and color range of it for these time lapses. I am wondering if the Canon 5D mkII would be a better performer in the TIME LAPSE world. Also, if I’m shooting time lapses with a Canon 5D mkII at 21 megapixels stills will this give me more range to color grade the footage in post as it is pretty much 4k res instead of the Sony EX1 1080p res? The footage on the Sony EX1 just seems to fall apart during color grading, and I’m looking for a real nice “less noise”, detailed, image that I think a 4k res still would give me.
Thanks for your time guys!
Bryan
