Canon 50mm f1.4 aperture ring question

Dered

I'm new to the FD-m4/3 adapter or FD lenses for that matter, I purchased this lens on Ebay for a decent price but I'm having trouble with the aperture ring (or I'm doing something wrong). Without the adapter I can't get the aperture ring wide open, in fact it won't go any wider than f8 or so. But with the FD-m4/3 adapter attached to it, it goes wide open but I can't stop it down. I'm glad it's not the other way around but just making sure it's not something I'm doing wrong. Without the adapter attached to it, the aperture ring only opens the iris with the rear lens cap attached (only works from f8 to f22). Without the rear lens cap the aperture ring is not doing anything.

Nevermind, works fine attached to FD-m4/3 adapter now after moving the lock/open ring of the adapter, which wouldn't move the other times I tried.

btw, if you place the lens in "A" mode, you can control the iris with the open/lock ring of the adapter, this is good specially for video because you will not have the f clicks
