Quick test of the Canon 50mm F1.2 LTM (Leica Thread Mount)

Its an interesting old lens that has a nice warm fuzzy look. Sharpens up at f2 and is really starting to preform well at f2.8, not bad for a 50 year old lens.

Lots of vibe in this guy. It reminds me of sumer Saturday morning as a kid.

OHHhhhhhhhhhhh this looks delicious. Wow. A piece of glass probably even made with human hands!
I really like what this lense is doing to the light, really special character indeed!
Where any of the shots wide-open? How far does it stop down?

Thanks for sharing.

Most of the shots are at f1.2

This is a popular lens with the rangefinder crowd, it has a distinct look wide open and sharpens up by F2. This lens is also sought after for its bokeh.

Its not cheap due to all the Leica fokes buying up all the fast glass they can get there hands on. Prices are in the 400-700 range. I have a felling that the Canon FL 58mm 1.2 has a similar look.

Sweet. Is that your daughter? I love the clip where she's just staring at the balloons. Yeah, the light is very nice.

Thanks.

(Nice choice of music.)

No CC. Straight out of the camera. I shot this in cinema mode.

I find the haze nice as well. The rangefinder people call it glow, which makes sense. You want your Leica lens to have a glow, not be hazy or soft :cheesy:

Hi
I've just found your film and love it! I have a Canon 50mm f0.95 for my Leica which has a similar vibe to your 1.2.
Anyhow, can you tell me what the music is please?
Thanks
Rob

I first heard it from the move sunshine. Underworld did part of the sound track but there was some kind of legal drama and it was not released until a lot latter.

The track name is "To heal" and you can find it off the Oblivion With Bells by Underworld.
