According to Canon Rumors, Norman Camera in the US has T4i body only in stock at $850.

They also have a list of expected dates for other retailers for the kit and body only (2 posts down from the top.)

We should get more detailed reports soon, especially for video.

I have a kit with the 18-135 on order. Unfortunately, it looks like the kits might ship a little later than body only. B&H is saying June 16 for body only! Won't be long now ....

Thank you J! I just ordered the 4Ti!! I should get it tomorrow.:beer:

I live in Michigan, so the total was $900 shipped with tax. An extra $50 to get my hands on one a week or two early, but that isn't bad. I used to shoot 6x7 film, which was $1 per frame. So that is a single days film shoot in the past.

It's hard to believe that this was just officially announced last week Friday! I'll have the camera one weeks from announcement. :)

I wish I didn't have an early pre-order with B&H for the 4Ti with 18-135 kit. Looks like those are going to be delayed a bit. But the 18-135 is about $200 less in the kit.

I'll try to do a review and post something on Saturday. Let me know if you have any questions. I have seen 3 real questions so far:
1) Does it still have the 3x to 10x digital zoom?

2) Are there still moire and aliasing problems?

3) Is it true 1080 in definition?

The last might be hardest to answer. I know with the 5D3, Canon engineered the sensor so that 1080 was a direct divisor of the pixel count for downsampling. I'll have to do the math on downsampling at 1920x1080 p.

Post any other questions you have. I'll try to get up pics and samples. Maybe time to put a web site back up too.

Also: Canon Rumors says they are hearing 4 more new Canon cameras are supposed to be announced this year.

It’s unknown if the expected mirrorless entry counts against the mentioned 4 camera bodies.

Speculation about what the 4 cameras could possibly be are below.

1) “Entry Level” full frame camera. Think of it as a direct replacement for the 5D Mark II.
2) Prosumer APS-C, possibly the 70D and not a direct replacement of the 7D.
3) The big megapixel entry, mentioned to be an EOS-1D style body.
4) A mirrorless entry.

That is only CR2 (of CR1, 2, or 3). But they were the first ones to really talk about the 4Ti and 18-135 & 40 mm.

Exciting year! Let's hope ...

yeh I'd like to know what other canon dslr's you have (in case you can do a comparison shot between two canon dslr's)
in particular I'm interested in the lowlight sensitivity of the new canon series

Will do. Low light tests and comparisons.

The only cameras I have right now are the 3Ti and a Canon G10. I will see what else I can round up locally after I do the first tests on Friday and Saturday. Hopefully a 5D2, maybe a 5D3. 7D should be the same as the 3Ti. I'm in Ann Arbor, MI if anyone is local with a G2, etc.

I am just setiing up a new domain that I have so I can post samples, reviews, etc. I'll link to that here Friday pm or Saturday. Plus Vimeo of course.

The 7d / 60d / t2i all had very similar low light capabilities (in my opinion) so my request would be to see the same shot at high iso taken on one of them and a t4i. Totally understand if it doesn't happen, its not a priority for me.
My reason for this request is I am curious to see how much of the 5dm3 lowlight improvements trickle down to the t4i as this would give some indication of what to expect with the upcoming 7d mark 2 and 70d

I agree, ISO is one of my first questions.

I also want to see what the autofocus movement & tracking look like. I thought I would try the 85mm 1.2, 24-70L, 50mm 1.4, and maybe the 28 2 lenses.

Also: Near/far focus shift using touchscreen. Sound in camera with non-STM lenses vs Marantz recorder. Jello/rolling shutter.

I wanted to try hand held vs tripod with the 18-135 IS, but won't have that yet. I am on list for 40mm too.

Ill post raw clips of ISO straight out of camera at Vimeo. Raw stills at Flickr.

Have to get the name right too - T4i!:)

I will try to shoot quick ISO Thursday night, post Fri. Shoot on the street Fri, post Sat. Etc.

Open to any and all suggestions folks!

I dont think flickr can host RAW. If you can please PM me and I will make an ftp for you to upload RAW still files,
I'm not interested in video

Yeah, I still have the body & 18-135 kit on preorder.

I'll either sell this body, or the new body when it arrives. It might cost me $100, but it will be fun to play with.

For most who want the STM lens, I'd definitely wait. Supposed to be a couple of weeks.
