Canon 35mm 1.4L or the Zeiss 35mm f2 Distagon TZE Which would you buy?

35mm F1.4 L is an amazing lens and pairs REALLY well with the 1.6x crop cameras, it is pretty expensive but you get what you pay for.

Yeah everything I've seen from the 35mm L looks really good in terms of image rendering.

I am following the auctions on the Zeiss Distagon Contax T 35mm 1.4 and it went for 1620.00. So about the same costs roughly as the Canon. I just need to look at more footage shot with Zeiss Distagon Contax T to see if I would like to throw down money on it. If anyone has footage they shot with this lens please share.

Hi, did you ever pick up this lens - Zeiss 35mm 1.4 Contax mount? I've been watching the 2.8's which hover around the $400 range, but a 1.4 would be awesome. I've rented the Canon 35mm 1.4L and was very satisfied with it and may rent it again this weekend.

I did pick a Contax Zeiss 50mm 1.7 Planar, so I am on a quest to get two more - the 35 and the 85. But if I want the 1.4 versions, I'm in for a long period of saving.

That's roughly what I paid for my 60D and ALL SEVEN lenses I own for it! Yikes! Quality is expensive yo.

oh, and let me throw another option to the mix... I have the leitz elmarit 35mm f/2.8 an it is superb (mine is from 1978 and cost me around $500 IIRC)
