Canon 1DX Mark II CFast 2.0 cards?

CFX600 is still current as far as I know. I often see them marketed as 'industrial' cards though.

They will not work with 4k60 in the 1Dx mkII. I've confirmed this.

Normal CF cards (not CFast, but look for VPG65) work with 4k25 (for many years now with the 1Dc), so any CFast 2.0 will work with that too.

The CFX600 is a great card for the XC10 4k and I've seen mentioned in an other thread that it also works fine in the C300 mkII.

How come? Dropped frames or just doesn't record at all?

The cards work fine for everything but 4k60.

I'd say it's due to sustained write performance. My older normal CF cards, Sandisk Extreme Pro are specced as 150MB/s write speeds, but at the same time they "only" conform to VPG65 which means they guarantee 65MB/s sustained write performance.

The Transcend CFX600 probably has peak write well above 100MB/s, but they won't sustain it indefinitely. In my test, the CFX600 started to record data in 4k60 but only lasted for a few seconds. I use the more expensive (but still good price/performance) CFX650 as my goto card in the 1Dx mkII. No issues there.

And remember that 4k25, or 100/120 fps can be recorded to normal CF cards like the VPG65 SanDisk above.

This is perfect. I already have the SanDisk 64GB card that came with the 1DXII that I can use for 4K 60p, so the other cards don't have to be as fast, since most of what I shoot is 4K 24p.

Thanks so much for the info!
