C300: Canon 1DC B&H purchase…why does Billmelater not allow purchase of any item over $10K

Canon 1DC B&H purchase…why does Billmelater not allow purchase of any item over $10K

Just wondering if anyone else ran into this problem.

Last summer I purchased a Sony FS700 using Billmelater from B&H and paid it off in full more than 2 months ahead of schedule. I have no bad credit and my balance with Billmelater is zero.

But today when I tried to purchase a Canon 1DC from B&H via Billmelater, I discovered that there's a $10K spending limit. And Billmelater's web site offers no info on how to increase the limit. I spoke to their customer service and they had no answers except to suggest I break up the payment in "parts". That doesn't make sense, and I don't think B&H even allows that.

Has anyone else run into this problem with Billmelater? I was looking forward to being able to pay off the 1DC over six months the way I did with my FS700, but it doesn't seem possible with Billmelater.

PS: Can we get a "1DC" prefix? Sorry to put "C300" but it seems i have to put a prefix before I can post this message, and there's no "1DC" prefix to choose from.

i don't think there's an easy way around the spending limit. it's like a credit limit on a credit card.

quicker solution: you may try buying $2000 worth of b&h gift cards with your credit card and use them on your own purchase.

That's a good idea. I like Bill Me Later from Paypal. I bought several lenses this way, and likeyou payed them off before intrest kicked in.

Thank you aly324 and Erik, I think I'll do that.

BillmeLater just informed me that I have to wait two weeks before I receive a reply as why the reason for the credit limit.

Two weeks to get a reply? That's insane! …unless they're using the pony express.
