Canon 1DC 25P firmware service update is now available at Canon Cinema EOS Service Centers. Details below.

If you purchased your Canon 1DC from Texas Media Systems, please contact us to arrange for a Free UPS Shipping Label to return the 1DC to Canon for this service update.

Beginning today, May 29, 2013, Canon servicecenters will begin updating EOS-1DC cameras sent in for the service updateof firmware to version 1.2.0. Firmware v. 1.2.0 adds the following functionality:

• Adds 25fps to video recording in PALsettings.

• Corrects the phenomenon that may occurin third party recorders that when a video is recorded to a recorder viaHDMI output, the video becomes two layered.

• When Auto Lighting Optimizer is enabled,a difference in exposure is noted in every other shot when shooting continuously.

This is a service update only and willnot be made available for web download. Service updates will be performedat Canon Service centers.

*1) EOS Utility Version 2.13.25 (or later) is required to upload the correction data to the camera. The latest update for this software can be downloaded from our web site.

*2) Does not apply to Canon EF Cinema zoom lenses CN-E 14.5-60mm T2.6 L S and CN-E 30-300mm T2.95-3.7 L S.

2. A line-level audio input accepting a mini 3.5mm connector has been added.

Canon support has been pretty good.

The Cine technical support on the other hand is somewhat a mixed bag. As long as you only have generic questions, they are fine, as they are good at getting back to you, but they will not have details for you. Which is odd, they are the specialists. Maybe as time goes by they will get better, it is still a very young dept.

EDIT: Just sent mine in for firmware update.

I called the CS at HK on Monday, they said their Japanese counterpart told them there seems to be some problem with the new 1.3 firmware. So is not available yet. They seem to know less about IDC than we all do here ( add together).
