1DC: Canon 1D C firmware version 1.3.5 released

I am in Hong Kong, Canon still refuse to update my 1DC's firmware, I am still at 1.0:angry:
even when I send it back last may to replace the mirror assembly thee did not upgrade it!!!

Everytime I go to the Customer support centre they say firmware is not stable and they do not recommend user to upgrade it.

Just want to know are the new firmware causing additional trouble

Did you ask them if Canon is working on a new "stable" version of firmware? or when will a stable version come out?

I just got an email today from Canon USA announcing 1.3.5 and saying that the registered serial number of my camera indicates that the camera needs the update. Mine has already been updated, but it does appear that they are taking awhile to truly roll out the update.

Aside from some users' wishful thinking about frame rates and other things that might be hardware limited, there are many things that should be possible had Canon chosen to do so (waveform, time-lapse mode, meta data from movie files that show ISO, shutter and aperture and so on...).

The 4K files have these data starting from the original firmware:

Camera Model
Serial Number
Shooting Date/time
Lens
Focal Length
Shutter speed
Aperture
ISO Speed
Canon Log - On/Off
White Balance Mode
Picture Style

These are displayed when you use the "EOS Movie Utility for EOS-1D C".

That's good information. I know reading about it long ago that it was supposed to become available. I actually think that dates back to my old 5Dmk3. Now I know where that information went.

So Canon: how about ACTUALLY making it available? Like, in all of the software that people actually use: FCPX, PPro, Lightroom, Aperture, DaVinci... whatever...

I really wish I had that information, but there is no way I will introduce an extra software as a middle man for that.

Canon: do it over, do it right.

Seem like most of the software care nothing about this camera, not sure who's fault it is though. No one really care to support it. not even Canon themselves

I’m surprised Canon in HK are telling you that you should not update the firmware on the 1Dc?

The new firmware is listed on the HK product notice website and you just need to take the camera to their service centre in Kowloon to get it updated. I’ve done this twice with updates in the last 18 months. They will keep the camera for a couple of days and call you when its done.

The 1Dc 4K image is quite special but I wish Canon would add some more useful features. I like the extended DR with canon log but it’s difficult to expose correctly without a waveform and using an external monitor for this can be cumbersome.

Canon would undoubtably sell more 1Dc's if they could bring waveform, peaking, zebras and 50-60fps in s35 mode in a firmware update.

Thanks for the info, I will see if I have a 3-4 days window to let them update the few week.

I have went there plus calling them, more than twice in the last 18 months, they keep telling me that there seems to bug in the software. It went in for mirror replacement last year and they refuse to update it (it took them 1-2 week to find out what is the fault part).

They told me because the technician at the TST service centre are not qualified to perform firmware upgrade for 1DC, they have to set it back to their main workshop for the upgrade( only one technician in HK is qualified).

My last visit was around June( forgot exact date) may be just before they put up the notice, or may be is only for 1.3.4 firmware only?

Are you a CPS member? I am not.
