Is there any way to get the lens more fluid when zooming in and out? Its actually been stiff since I got it, and i happened to use someone elses yesterday, and theirs was very fluid.

Oh, and yeah I know its a shitty lens. Lmao

Dubez, I think most non-video zoom lens will potentially have this problem, they were not designed for smooth zooms anyway.

And I think it's a bit too much to expect this from a low price kit lens. In the lenses for my GH (for example), the 14-42 is very crappy, the 14-140 is better but still sticky and the Oly 14-54 is better but well, still not designed for video. Bear in mind that in cinema applications, even with lenses with finer mechanics, sometimes you still have to use a zoom drive to get smoother zooms, so you see it's a problem with all mechanical zooms.

Of course some of us were spoiled by the servo zooms of camcorders for years and years, what can we do, right? So the only solution would be to use a servo-drived zoom lens like an ENG lens, but then we come out of a 150$ price tag to a 15,000$ one... :)

D-Zoom. I recommend getting a different lens though, the 18-55 is optically not bad, but mechanically awful for video.
