I use the 17-55 on my Sony F3 and it's a great lens in many situations. So I would say yes it works fine on super35. It's not the best lens built wise but the range, speed and image quality makes it a very usable lens.
One thing about the 17-55 - the focus ring is not in the usual position and is quite thin. Focus is usually at the end of the barrel and zoom the middle. I am used to touch focusing and it has confused me from time to time.
Agree with above point. But for a quick sharp lens in the $1k area it does a pretty good job and the IS is nice. I have to pull the front element off mine from time to time as its prone to dust getting under there. I wouldnt recommend this with expensive glass, however Ive done it numerous times with this lens to give it a blow out without trouble.
And to answer original question and to re echo what has already been stated. Works perfectly with the S35 C300, 0 vignetting.
Good, versatile lens for C100/300. I can verify that the canon branded hood sometimes appears on the edge of the frame when at 17mm and when using IS, so watch out for that. As mentioned, perhaps not the best choice for shooting out in the elements due to dust getting inside.
