Cannot Connect to Computer

Alright, so I was shooting a short about an hour ago with the HVX connected to my MacBook Pro using FCP. Everything is going great, then we get to the slow motion shots. We get a lot of dropped frames when we try the shots, but we eventually get them all. Then we cut and go to the next setup, where the camera no longer is showing on FCP. All I did was change the setting on the HVX back to 24fps. I just bought a new firewire cord and still nothing, I cannot get it to connect to my computer at all. I tried connected it in normal 480 mode to get some stuff off of a tape, but still nothing. I'm really worried it has something to do with the firewire on the camera. Any help would be appreciated cause I'm freaking out right now. Thanks.

Well I'm pretty sure I shorted out the Firewire connection on the camera. Great. I've had the camera for less than 2 months so please tell me this is covered under warranty. Please? Anyone?

go to your library folder, (your library folder meaning YOU the active user, not the root library folder) then preferences, and delete the folder for Final Cut Pro, then empty the trash, then start FCP and then connect the camera and then capture. make sure the capture preset is always the same as the camera output

I've been doing this for a while, recording to the computer. I have a Firestore coming in this week. I bought the camera from Proviewdigital and it came with full Panasonic warranty (I checked the warranty through Panasonic when I got it and they said it was good.) I just think I seriously fried the firewire port on the camera. Great.

ya , thats no good if it is. Can you get it to read the P2 card when in device connect mode? that would be a good test

I don't have any P2 cards. I've been using the computer for a while and I'm getting a firestore. Is something like this covered under warranty?

I wouldnt see why it wouldnt be covered. Just call Proview tomorrow first thing and get the ball started rolling on getting it fixed. GOOD LUCK!

Probably not. If you short out the firewire you won't get *anything* at all. Make sure you never plug-in or unplug the camera to the computer when the power is on to both units.

How can you short out a firewire cable though by just plugging it in , Barry? Thats normal use, no?

Well I plug in the firewire cord, then turn on the camera, then try to capture to Final Cut (with non-controllable device) and I get nothing.

Whenever I'm in the log and capture box, if I change capture input, it says it cannot find it, even though my camera is plugged in and is on.
