Cannon HF 200 issues

I was at an event recently where I shot several hours continuous footage. When I transferred the files to my computer, the footage has been divided up in 15 minute increments. Why did this happen? Is there a way to put the footage back together?

The flash cards are FAT32, so hence the 2GB limit. The camera splits the files. Only problem is that when they are reassembled in the NLE or buy utilities for combining, there are frozen and dropped frames at the 11:20 boundaries. I ran into this issue with a concert I shot last night.
