Candle Lit shots

What is a DVX102B???

What is a DVX102B???

You said these were shot with the DVX102B? I never heard of that model.

I have a DVX100B. Is that what you meant?

Nice shots with whatever camera it was.

I just finished my 5 day shoot and will posting some video here for all to see.

BABES! hehe

These shots were done with very low light - mostly lit by candles.

just to highlight the low lux capabilities of the DVX102B

Nice looking shots. The subtle camera movement really works with the piece of music you chose.

What I have heard - and done once before - is light your subject with a small lamp behind the candle... or coming from a distance. This way your subject gets properly lit - yet still leaves the impression that the candle is doing everything.

Great job though.

nice work borgkingkong.

i have an entire scene in my next movie lit by candlelight so this is nice to see pulled off successfully...

That was really nice, borgkingkong. Very interesting and a pleasure to watch. Great music choice as well.

That has to be the best Youtube compression I've seen to date, what did you compress to before you uploaded it on there? I've uploaded a couple vids and they look like complete caca.

Hi everyone thanks for the input, here's some info for the questions above:

1) the 102B is similar to 100B but it's an Asian model and is Pal and shoots in 25p rather than 24p or pa

2) Compression - I used Final Cut Pro's Quicktime conversion function, set it to H.264 codec and deinterlaced it - the file is 20MB big. I am still not happy with the output file as it is not as sharp as ones I have seen online so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I've done a few compression using FCP and they all turn up VERY nice on youtube, though the files can be big I think its worth the uploading time for the extra quality.

I am absolutely flattered by all your comments - since I assume most of you are actual pros in this kind of work ! I have only gotten the camcorder for a week, and have only started shooting videos that same amount of time (in my whole life yes!)! so I am only one week into my hobby and getting very rewarding results....

I have another video posted on youtube if you care to check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKdaPikgfYw
