It's taking so long because McFarlane does so many of the damn voices himself. And he's doing a bunch on American Dad too, I think. Plus they take a while to write. But they're probably animated in a week.
Not sure if true but I heard it was cancelled partly because they dropped a mil per episode - Can’t see how but that’s what I heard - Maybe Seth Green got 600k an episode … :-/
It took him like 15 frames to get onto the table!! You gotta admit some of that early stuff looked shaky. Especially when compared to Futurama, if you look at the first episode, and the very last one they look almost the same. But it's one of my favorite shows, more power to Family Guy. And it looks good now, season 3 was very polished.

True, but I never noticed quality or anything after the first couple minutes. Humor always wins me over. I even Liked :-[ “Gary the rat” :-[ and that looked like 5fps Flash.
Now if you do animation, and I have buddies that do, I could see it getting to ya ... Still funny ass **** ;D
I tried a bunch of animation software packages. Don’t have the patience.
I got a buddy does flash (or director or whatever it’s called now) www.icebergstudios.com
I'm using Maya. I'm learning character animation. I work as a security guard (that's right, laugh it up) at PDI/Dreamworks (Shrek, Antz, etc) so I get a lot of help from those guys.

That is absolutely awesome! Free time to work (unless Donkey gets drunk or something) And pro support. Good on ya! 8)
I get a flashlight. But it's never dark! So I never use the damn thing! No, it's very cool. Pays the bills, gives me time to do homework, helps me animate, and most importantly gives me hours on end to spend with you guys on this forum.

Never had any problems with Donkey, although you should have seen how tossed some people were after Shrek 2 was wrapped. Holy crap, that was a fun night.
